A Gift For You!

Standard

Hello Everyone!
During the holidays, I was lucky enough to receive quite a few gift cards. Personally, I love them! I’m a huge girly-girl, so I love any excuse to go shopping! In fact, I (and my little brother) have been receiving gift cards for Christmas from our family for so many years that we have made it a tradition to use them the day after Christmas at the plethora of post-holiday sales! We seriously set an alarm and wake up at the crack of dawn and go out shopping all day.
Other people, however, think of gift cards as a “cop-out” for putting the time into a real gift. I think it depends on the circumstances. For example, buying a gift card for the mall for my grandma may qualify as “coping-out” on a gift. However, if someone bought this for me, I think it’s a perfect gift because someone thought of me enough to know that I enjoy shopping, and would love to have some extra funds to do so!
So, how do you feel about gift cards? Do you feel like they’re a cop-out on a “real” gift? Or do you like to spend spend spend?!

The More People I Meet, The More I Love My Dogs!

Standard

Wow, I haven’t blogged in quite some time! With the end of the fall semester and the holidays, I have been so incredibly busy!
I know that everyone has crazy families, but all I have to say is, I LOVE MY DOGS!!!! As I have mentioned before, I have three Italian greyhounds, and I love them so very much! All dogs, (but my dogs especially) have a way of giving unconditional love that very few people can give. No matter what I feel, think, say, or do, those dogs just love me to pieces! I love seeing them at the end of a long day, and when my family’s love is a little short, I just need a little kiss from my puppies, and it all melts away!
Even when they don’t mean to, family can be mean, and sometimes downright cruel. But a dog’s love is unwaveringly unconditional.

College Finals!

Standard

Hello everyone!
I haven’t been blogging much lately because I have been SWAMPED with end-of-term work, and impending finals! (Dun – dun – dun!!!) However, I’ve noticed more and more that, for the majority of my classes, the “final” is a major paper, big painting or drawing (for art courses), or some other major project. In fact, I only have one actual sit-down exam this semester, and that is for an algebra course. For my other classes, I need to write a final paper, put together a portfolio (art), or answer a series of short answer prompts online. I have to say, even though I am super stressed put with all this work, it is SO much more convenient than having to come to campus again and sit through a tedious hand-written exam. Instead, I just drop off my final work or submit it online! A total time-saver!
So, how do you like your finals? Big projects or good, old-fashioned exams?

Say What?

Standard

Hello everyone!
While writing today I started thinking about funny words. As normal as English sounds, there are so many crazy word out there! (Not to mention, most of the time we like to throw in some extra consonants just for fun, i.e. knife, wrap, bomb, pneumonia, etc.). So for fun, I thought I would compile my list of the ten funniest words I know and love! Here goes:

10. Fuzzy: This one isn’t really a “funny” word per say, but I love to write this one in cursive! All those loops and z’s are fun! Lol

9. Colonel: This word does not even come close to sounding like it is spelled. It should sound like “Kol on el” not “Ker nel”!! Is there an “r” in that word?? Yeah I didn’t think so…

8. Dinglehopper: A tool with a fork-like resemblance that is used for brushing hair. Being a mermaid is not necessary.

7. Thwart: This is a very onomatopoetic (dig that) word!! It just sounds short, like someone is being squashed. Also, it’s fun to say! Thwart. Hehe.

6. Tutelage: Again, this word is just so darn fun to say! Your inner kindergartener comes out with this one. Tute! Tute! Lol

5. Arugula: Apparently its like lettuce, only it’s much more interesting! Plus, you sound so much more fancy. Watch: “I’m having a salad made with cucumbers and lettuce.” Eh. Not impressed. All salads have lettuce. Now this: “I’m having a salad made with cucumbers and arugula.” Impressive! Fancy! I’m coming to your house for dinner! See?? Lol

4. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious: Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious, it’s fun to say!

3. Flabbergasted: Such a great word! I just can’t believe how fun it is! I’m flabbergasted! Hehe

2. Plethora: This is an awesome word! And it just sounds so nice when sprinkled into any essay, journal, or term paper. Sprinkle on the sophistication! Lol

AND THE BEST FUNNY WORD IS…

1. Discombobulated: Being that I am ALWAYS Discombobulated, this is my favorite word! So easy to use every day, and it is so descriptive! Just the word discombobulated sounds discombobulated! Haha

What are your favorite funny words? How do use them?

De-friended

Standard

Hello everyone!

A topic that came up in my life was the blasphemous DE-FRIENDING! Today I was de-friended on Facebook by one of my family members due to a little tiff. Now, some people view being de-friended as a frivolous detail; I, however, find it very rude. If I am so disposable as a “friend” that you can de-friend me, then why were you my friend? But what’s worse is when you log back in to a new friend request from the person who de-friended you! Personally, I would NEVER re-friend someone who de-friended me, unless it was an accident or we have seriously had a heart-to-heart and mended whatever problems where going on in real life. I refuse to fight petty fights via Facebook, or any social media for that mater!

So, how do you feel about de-friending people? Have you ever been de-friended? If so, would you ever accept another friend request from them again?
